  Ten minutes earlier, Ron and Kelly had been having dinner at a Chinese restaurant.

  “This shrimp fried rice is divine,” Kelly said from across the small table. “I’m so glad we came here.”

  “Yeah, yeah…” Ron’s mouth was slack. On the other side of the plate glass window, a man was getting into his car.

  It’s him.

  “What’s wrong, hun?” Kelly followed his gaze. “Oh God, not again.” She grabbed Ron’s hand as he stood. “Please don’t do this to me again.”

  “Sweetie, I’m positive this time.”

  “I—I—” Kelly clenched her jaw. There was something in his eyes. “I love you.”
